Habakkuk 3:17-18 (ESV) Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the foldand there be no herd in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
What a powerful section of scripture. I wish us Christians were just as good at praising God as Habakkuk was. To translate it to our first world problems; though my car won’t start, or that my job is a never ending torture, the fact that the bills keep coming and there is no money in the bank, even when myself or a member of my family is deathly ill, and the cupboard are bare, I….I will trust in the Lord! I will be joyous because He is the God who saves; the God who saved me and offers salvation to the world!
I hope we can be just like Habakkuk, we are told so many times to rejoice in the Lord and we should even when our lives like are good bad or worse. Habakkuk was seeing the judgment of God fall upon His people and yet he praised the God of his salvation.
